AFRICAN COURT ON HUMAN AND PEOPLES’ RIGHTS BEGINS 48th ORDINARY SESSION

Arusha, 23 February, 2018: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) will begin its 48th Ordinary Session on Monday at its seat in Arusha, the United Republic of Tanzania.

The Judges, among others, will examine over 15 applications during the four-week session scheduled to run from 26 February to 23 March, 2018.

NOTES FOR EDITORS:
1.    The Court is composed of eleven Judges, nationals of Member States of the African Union elected in their individual capacity.
2.    The Court meets four times a year in Ordinary Sessions and may hold Extra-Ordinary Sessions.
3.    As at February 2018, the Court had received 161 applications and has finalized 32.
